Freeman+Leonard is seeking a Brand Manager for a full time opportunity with an anime company

Based in Los Angeles, but remote work will be considered for candidates fluent in Japanese and/or prior anime experience

5+ years of experience

 

The Brand Manager will have responsibility for annual marketing plans primarily for Dragon Ball and One Piece as well as other marketing projects and initiatives as needed. Annual brand plans will include all aspects of marketing including the release calendar, experiential marketing, paid media, social media, influencer campaigns and press efforts. The Brand Manager will work with various internal and external resources to ensure that all aspects of the brand plan are well executed.

 

Responsibilities Include, but are not limited to:
  • Staying current and informed regarding brand research on the properties, their strengths, weaknesses, opportunities, and challenges
  • Implementing brand research projects if required
  • Understanding brand standards as they apply to creative materials
  • Approving creative materials as needed for marketing executions
  • Budgeting for the respective brand plans
  • Collaborating on effective paid media, social media, influencer programs and experiential marketing activations
  • Preparing and presenting brand plans to colleagues, management, and partners
  • Collaborating with distribution partners to align marketing plans against release dates and avails
  • Collaborating with merchandise partners to align marketing plans for successful sell-through to the fans (and successful sell-in if applicable for retail)

 

 

The Ideal Candidate Has:
  • Five plus years of related marketing experience, including entertainment or licensed merchandise marketing
  • An enjoyment for ideation around marketing execution and problem solving
  • A passion for anime
  • An analytical mindset, the ability to absorb and interpret data for strategic next steps
  • Keen creative sensibilities
  • Highly evolved communication skills, both written and verbal
  • Experience creating and delivering presentation
  • Proficiency with Excel, Word and Powerpoint
  • Talent for tracking the details that matter
  • Excellent follow-up
  • Strong Work Ethic
  • Openness to new tools and technology, changing work patterns as the work environments change
  • Knowledge of Japanese culture and Japanese business customs are a plus
  • Strong work ethic
  • Willingness to travel and attend the major anime conventions and additional travel may be required as needed for business purposes

 

Fluency with the Japanese language is highly desirable, but not a requirement.
