Job Description
Freeman+Leonard is seeking a Brand Manager for a CPG brand.
This is a remote position, but candidates will need to reside in either Dallas-Fort Worth, TX or Los Angeles, CA.
Reporting to the Chief Marketing Officer, the Brand Manager will have primary responsibility for managing a beverage brand: building and executing best-in-class marketing plans and tactics and supporting innovation initiatives that build the brand and drive profitable sales. The role will also support another business critical CPG product’s innovation and shopper marketing programs to grow the brand. This individual must demonstrate an entrepreneurial mindset and a passion for building brands and growing businesses.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:
- Develop and execute integrated marketing plans and tactics that include shopper marketing, packaging design, website development and management, and digital advertising to increase brand awareness and drive consumer demand across all channels of trade.
- Work cross functionally to manage development and launch of innovation, driving profitable growth for the business.
- Support the development and lead the creation of retail sales tools including sales presentations, merchandising and point of sale materials.
- Lead the coordination and execution of key industry trade shows.
- Successfully lead and manage external agency partners to create and deliver critical brand marketing tools, programs, and assets.
- Act as an expert on the CPG business, leading ongoing sales reporting, analyzing brand and category performance as well as market and consumer trends to identify key insights. Report on findings to help drive business decisions and growth strategies.
- Measure marketing program results by developing KPIs; drive and manage marketing initiatives to achieve these KPIs within timeline and budget requirements.
- Own the Marketing budget for the brand, including building annual budgets and ongoing budget management and reporting.
- Support other marketing initiatives as requested.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
- Bachelor’s Degree in Business, Marketing, or related field; MBA is a plus.
- Minimum 3-5 years of experience in a CPG brand marketing, category management or shopper marketing role; experience with ‘better for you’ food or beverages is preferred. Traditional CPG training with small company experience a plus.
- Excellent communication, presentation, negotiation, and interpersonal skills with a basic knowledge of general business topics.
- Strong cross-functional team leadership skills including collaboration, conflict resolution, real-time decision-making, and capability to inspire others to perform at a high level. Must be able to operate successfully as both as a leader and member of cross-functional teams.
- Proven ability to partner with various business disciplines and develop strong, manageable relationships with internal customers and external vendors.
- Agency management experience and demonstrated success working with and through agencies to deliver objectives on tight timelines.
- Superior analytical thinking with the ability to identify key insights, build growth strategies, develop marketing tactics, and execute with excellence.
- Ability to function on a project basis while maintaining strategic vision.
- Experience with P&L management and knowledge of financial systems and general reporting/administration concepts.
- Superior organizational skills and ability to prioritize and manage multiple projects and tasks simultaneously and independently in a fast-paced, start-up environment.
- Experience developing annual marketing plans and calendars, developing, and measuring ongoing success via KPIs, and optimizing programs to continually improve results.
- Motivated self-starter who works with a high level of energy and drive with a bias for action and radiates a consistent positive attitude and professional demeanor.
- Experience working with syndicated data (i.e., Nielsen, IRI, SPINS). Ability to run syndicated reports out of these tools, interpret results and make recommendations – turning insights into action.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office programs including Excel and PowerPoint.
