Job Description

Freeman+Leonard is seeking an Accounting Specialist for a construction client.
This is an ONSITE role in Lubbock, TX

Position Summary
Work closely with project managers to help manage finances & subcontracts on projects.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities
  • Assist in the payment, management, and reconciliation of AP vendor accounts.
  • Ensure subcontracts and purchase orders are set up in accounting system.
  • Ensure change orders on subcontracts are received in accounting.
  • Work with project manager to collect W9 certificate, appropriate insurance, bonds and joint check documents when necessary.
  • Enter AR billings and change orders submitted to project owners and assist project manager in monitoring for timely payment.
  • Review sales tax on incoming subcontracts, purchase orders and invoices and adjust as needed based on tax status of project.
  • Analyze monthly job reports to make sure projects are closed out timely and/or recognize problems to be addressed with project manager or accounting manager.
  • Other duties as assigned by the accounting manager.

Professional Experience/Qualifications:
  • Involves problem solving with assistance and guidance in understanding and applying company policies and procedures
  • Excellent written, verbal, interpersonal, and analytical communication skills 
  • Strong attention to detail
  • Ability to handle sensitive matters
  • High school diploma or GED
  • Accounting or construction experience preferred
  • Training or experience in computer applications – Excel, Sage, ProCore preferred
  • Prompt and regular attendance
